Personal History:
From the very first moment Kathryn and Jared Sr. brought their son home, they knew he was going to be a handful. He cried and fussed seemingly at all hours of the day and it was inevitable that he tired his parents out considerably. But there was something about the light in his eyes and the way he smiled that made it incredibly worth all the work. Once Jared learned to walk and talk properly, though, things really hit the fan. He got into anything and everything, whether or not his parents told him not to do so. It was almost like words such as 'no' and 'don't' just went in one ear and out the other. No matter what kind of consequences came about because of his actions, Jared never did anything to change his behavior. He liked being bad. Being a goody-two-shoes was overrated and quite honestly, very boring.

Needless to say, he became very familiar with everything ranging from time-outs to detention as he grew older. The girls tended to like him for it. The boys thought he was annoying. And of course, being a young boy with an already big ego, he paid more attention to the girls. Could you expect anything less?

His parents eventually just accepted the fact that Jared wasn't destined to be one of those perfect, darling little boys. That didn't mean they gave up trying to punish him, though. So, at home Jared did try to be a bit better. It took an effort at times, but it was for his mom and dad, so it was worth it, right? Of course they appreciated the effort he gave to do so. Once he was out the front door, however, he was right back to his trouble-making and fun-loving goofy self. Rebelliousness and a trouble-making nature outweighed being good for him. Jared wouldn't be the same person otherwise.

Pairing up with his best friend Paul didn't help any either. The two got in trouble on a very regular basis. It was a wonder the principal didn't have their parents' numbers on speed dial. Jared hated school, so that's why he spent more of his time there having fun and making trouble than actually paying attention to lessons or doing any classwork or homework. He did just enough to get by. Anymore and he thought his brain would explode. His natural behavior and the stuff he learned in school couldn't both fit in that thick skull of his to well.

Playing soccer was the only thing that calmed him down some, though it did seem like he had far too much fun running people over at times. Freshman year in high school had only cultivated his behavior. Only this time, there was a wider range of people to fall prety to his antics. Sophomore year was after that and Jared planned to do what he'd been doing in school all along. Getting into trouble, flirting with girls and not studying. After all, that's what he did best, right? Little did he know that a lot of things were going to change. And fast. It was a seemingly normal day closer to the end of the year. Nothing special about it. Actually, the whole time would have passed without consequence had a stupid senior not decided to cross Jared that day. Apparently the older guy was accusing Jared of kissing his girlfriend. Okay...so it wasn't exactly an incorrect accusation. Still, our favorite cocky boy denied that it ever happened. One thing led to another...translation...the boys got into a fight outside of school. Jared came out on top, surprisingly enough, finding that his anger had gotten him some really good punches in, leaving the older boy with a bloody nose on the pavement.

Still...that anger didn't go away. It was still coursing through him. It made his head pound with a pain even worse than a migraine, blurring his thoughts and making everything feel off-kilter. Feeling sicker and more nauseous than he'd ever felt, he went home for the day. But the sickness and the headache didn't go away. Actually, an overwhelming fever added to the mix. Honestly, it felt like he was going to die. And no one seemed to find it all that unusual. What the heck was wrong with these people?

Things came to fruition, though. No, that doesn't mean the sickness went away. Actually, Jared got overcome by a fit of violent shaking. And then, for lack of a better word, he exploded. Left in his place was a deep brown wolf. Naturally, he panicked. His own thoughts were racing, but his thoughts weren't the only ones there in his head. There were other thoughts...another voice. A familiar one, at that. Telling him to calm down and not to panic. Somehow, the reassurance and explanation of what was going on had a soothing effect. Still, he couldn't fully calm down enough to change back two and a half weeks. Being stuck on four legs tends to counteract being calm, don't you think. When he did finally get back into his human skin, Jared felt himself feeling different. Changed. He was one of the spirit warriors of legend. A werewolf, more or less. Sam Uley was the only other one like him and he found that he couldn't ignore the older man's orders. Not even when he was told to ignore Paul. That would be hard. He and Paul had been best friends for a long time. To just up and ignore him? It wasn't fair. But he didn't have a choice.

Luckily enough, though, Paul changed not too long after. Of course, Paul was more prone to phasing every day because of something that made him angry. And his clothes got destroyed in the process. Jared tried to help him out, but as you can imagine, that wasn't an easy task. Not by any means.

The two of them weren't very adept at keeping themselves from phasing, so the both of them stayed out of school for the sake of not endangering the other students. Jared's parents arranged a way for him to get his work done for all of the days he was missing. He could do it all over the computer...like distance education. That worked for him. And it meant he wouldn't have to be near all the idiots that could set him off and make him phase and he could sit around at home when he wasn't doing his work or doing wolf stuff. It was a win-win situation.

Family Relationships:

Kathryn Hunter - Mother. Jared's not a momma's boy by any means of the term, but he loves him mom to death. She's the one who's kept him out of trouble, not to mention feeding him and putting up with all of his...Jared-ness. If there's one mother in the world who deserves an award, it is definitely Mrs. Hunter. He wouldn't trade her for anything in the world and he's one of the top women in his heart.

Jared Hunter Sr. - Father. Jared Sr. is a lot like his son, so it's really no wonder where Jared gets his personality and behavior from. Being so similar, it only makes sense that the two butt heads like stubborn rams at times. But Jred loves his old man and is more than grateful for him and everything he gives him. Including a job and money for stuff.

Personality:
There are two things you will notice about Jared when you first meet him. One, he is very, very blunt. The boy tells it like it is, no matter what he's being asked. This combined with his big moth has gotten him into trouble loads of times before and still he keeps going back and doing the same thing all over again. Obviously, the consequences that come with his actions don't really intimidate him much. Two, Jared is in desperate need of some humble pie. He thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread. And since girls like him so much and often go out of their way to get his attention, that ego hasn't shrunk any since he hit puberty. This paired with a huge amount of confidence makes an unstoppable combination. It takes a lot of talking down to get him to shut up about himself sometimes. It all depends on the moment.

With his big ego comes a very flirtacious manner around girls. It's more like second nature to flirt with any and every pretty girl he sees. Now, he might only playfully flirt if the girl is a friend. Every other girl, he will flirt shamelessly with. He does still have the decency to draw the line at girls who are taken...but only if he remembers. But, that's mostly because he doesn't want to get punched in the face by the girl's boyfriend. Not that'd it'd hurt, but then he'd be too tempted to start a fight. So, since he's unattached he flirts all the time just to see if he can make the girl blush and smile that gorgeous smile. When he's not flirting, Jared is being generally goofy and fun around his friends and family. It's a part of his undeniable charm. Said charm is what lets him keep friends despite is blunt and cocky demeanor.

Temper-wise, Jared is second to Paul. Where Paul is the most likely to explode over something, Jared can get to that point if pushed. He doesn't appreciate people being rude or negative toward the people he cares about and that big mouth of his will start yelling the first moment he feels that things are getting out of hand. Yelling will eventually escalate into physical violence if you're not careful. He won't back down, so it's best to just not provoke him. The only person who can really get him down from this state...well, there really isn't one at the moment. Unless Paul counts, but usually he's just egging his best friend on, not trying to stop it.

Once you get past all of that other stuff, good or bad, you'll see that Jared is a really good guy. He's loyal to all of his friends and those people that he cares about. He can be nice, and even be a gentleman to a lady. It just takes a little effort to dig through all of the other traits that make Jared who he is. And when you do, you really can't help but love him.

Special Ability: He can phase into a wolf, just like the other shapeshifters

Physical Appearance:
Like most of the La Push boys, Jared is tall, standing at 6'3". He has a lean body, but it is more on the muscular side. Not enough to make him look too bulky, but you'll definitely have something to look at if he wears a tight shirt. Girls tend to like that fact about him (not that he cares much past what Kim thinks). His face sports higher cheek bones and a firm looking jaw, though does still manage to look soft. People tell him he looks more devilish than boyish most of the time, but his genuine smiles lead you to think otherwise. His eyes are a deep brown. Like mostly everyone else in the tribe, his skin is tanned. He has dark hair which he keeps relativey short. It's a little bit longer in the front because of how he keeps his hair cut, and in the back his hair reaches midway on the back of his neck. Overall, he has that athletic look to him that one achieves after playing sports for a long time like he has with soccer.

Jared tends to dress as comfortably as possible, but also makes himself look nice before going anywhere. He thinks he's hot stuff, so naturally he wants to try and attract attention with whatever he's wearing. Once again, though, it's Kim's opinion that matters the most to him. As it always will.
